Hair consultation · Before the service
What should you tell your hairdresser during a consultation?

During the consultation, explain your goal, routine, your hair’s technical history and what you do not want. Four concrete pieces of information are more useful than a vague request.
Explain how you want to feel
“Brighter”, “more minimal”, “with more character” or “easy to manage” are useful directions when paired with examples. They clarify the desired effect beyond the name of a cut or colour.
Bring images, but use them as a language
A photograph is not an instruction to copy. Point to exactly what you like: the length, contrast, movement or the way the colour frames the face. Bring an example of what you do not want too.
Share your hair’s technical history
Previous colours, lightening, treatments and home processes can change what is possible. Sharing this information supports a more careful and realistic assessment.
Be honest about everyday limits
- How much time you want to spend styling.
- Which tools you actually use.
- How often you want to return to the salon.
- Which feelings or results you do not want again.
Ask how to maintain the result
Before confirming a direction, ask what it will need at home and over time. A project becomes personal when it remains compatible with the life you live, not only with the first-day image.
The consultation is already part of the result.
